Project Description

Walden Countryside is a community interest company that seeks to create public access nature reserves and to promote the conservation of traditionally managed countryside in north Uttlesford.

We manage three nature reserves in the Walden Countryside.

– Noakes Grove, Sewards end (this one we own outright),

–  Kings Field, Hempstead,

-Scotch Patch, Ellis Green, Wimbish.

We manage these sites and enourage wildelife, conducting wilfelife surveys to monitor what is living here, and improve both the habitats and access for people. Additionally we have functions for children in the reserve, some educational, some mindfulness and relaxation oriented, and birthday parties.

Project Status Information

We are currently working on making Kings Field more like Noakes Grove – visitor and child friendly. This includes improving access, gading out the stream banks, creating a pond at the west end, and creation of a “forest School” area. We have been awareded a grant from Affinity Water to towards this project.
