Project Description

Hollymead Square is an 89 dwelling development in Newport by Hill Residential. The scheme was originally conceived and taken through planning by a Swedish-owned developer called Trivselhus who had highly positive eco-credentials and objectives. The land was later sold to Hill who took forward the scheme largely as devised by Trivselhus. The development has solar panels on every dwelling (including the affordables) and each dwelling has air source heat pumps.

Hill have partnered with Octopus Energy to offer five years zero bills.

Project Status Information

The scheme was supported through the planning stage and beyond by Newport Parish Council. We consider this a positive scheme with land included for the Primary School, a new community car park (to be owned and maintained by the Parish Council) for the use of the school and the adjacent recreation ground. Also new ball catch netting for the recreation ground and £150,000 for an off site playground (to be delivered by the Parish Council). We have regular ongoing liaison meetings with Hill and a very positive relationship with them.

We are in the process of drafting a recommended protocol for Parish/Town Council liaison with developers to be presented as an example of good practice in the Autumn via the UDC’s parish forum.
