We’ve started comparing Hadstock with other villages across Uttlesford; we’re not as good as we should be in our Domestic Energy Consumption (EPC) scores or our IMPACT Carbon Footprint. The good news is that this project can make a substantial improvement on both these measures. Our plan is to help us all identify where we can make our homes more energy efficient – to reduce our carbon footprint, have warmer homes, reduce our energy bills. Also how we can improve the Nature around us. A ‘Low Carbon, High Nature’ approach.
Project Status Information
Our initial activity was to undertake a Village-wide communication exercise followed by a survey to ask what people were interested in and where we should focus our activity. This Survey gained feedback from over 80% of the houses in Hadstock Parish. The survey results are on the Sustainable Hadstock web site. In summary, the interest was split between Home Energy and Nature & Biodiversity. These were the two streams of activity setup. We also organised a series of evening talks on topics – mainly to do with Home Energy solutions. We have continued communications through the Village magazine, website, info site and at the Village Fete.
