The Burns Playing Field is a large riverside open space which has a children’s playground and lots of grass and trees. For many years a football pitch was maintained at one end, but when the team no longer needed it the Parish Council took the opportunity to review how the playing field could be used. Ecologists have been asked to provide a survey and advice to guide the council in the future. The site has huge potential for environmentally-friendly community uses.
A small community building on the playing field is being renovated for use alongside the playing field.
The project is to improve biodiversity and develop additional community uses of this playing field and its wonderful natural resources. Local residents are being consulted throughout and advice is being received from ecologists and arboriculturists.
