Sustainable Hadstock’s aim is to make this sociable, educational and fun whilst helping us all to create a more sustainable future for ourselves and future generations. Sustainable Hadstock is a residents’ initiative to help us all understand what we can do as individuals and as a village to create a more sustainable, low carbon future. It is focused on practical actions we can take – in our homes, how we live and for our natural environment. There are three major streams: Home&Energy; Biodiversity&Nature and Waste. A presentation summarising our activities in 2024 is on our website.
To provide guidance to householders on what they should consider to improve their homes Energy consumption and efficiency.
With support of a grant to the Village Hall by UDC we have produced an Energy blueprint for the Hall and installed a solar panel plus battery installation. With support of a second grant we will be installing underfloor insulation to further improve the energy footprint of the hall.
Hadstock has a huge potential in Biodiversity with a rare chalk meadow nature reserve with – over 120 wildflower species, 80 acres of woodland including the ancient Hadstock Wood.
Our plan is to help us all identify where in Hadstock we can make our homes more energy efficient – to reduce our carbon footprint, have warmer homes, reduce our energy bills
