Following on from a comprehensive Energy Consumption and Improvement Report in may, a team led by ‘the three musketeers’, Ian Jennings, Peter Jarritt and Colin Brown, crucially supported by Jane Jennings, gave the village hall a new oak floor in August, along with insulation in the roof, and insulating the doors, windows and pipework.
The floor alone was estimated to account for 12% of heat loss from the hall and so the team obtained a UDC Zero Carbon grant for the underfloor and pipework insulation, while the village hall funded the new floor. Without the UDC funding the work would not have been possible.
The team removed, insulated and laid two new layers of flooring over 5 weeks of intensive, hard work, using a multitude of skills. Opportunity was also taken to lay underfloor cables to support new media services.
