One of the comments from the National Emergency Briefing film that we presented in Saffron Walden during the Big Green Festival was a climate scientist stating that while the weather is getting hot now, these are the best conditions we’ll have for the rest of our lives unless there’s a massive change is how we live.  A sobering thought.

The met office’s review of June 2026 shows that the record temperatures for June were broken yet again with a top temperature of 37.7 degrees in England, and there’s the potential for more heatwaves before the summer is over.

The Cambridge Retrofit Hub are setting up a number of Summer Shading and Home Cooling workshops, giving top tips for cost-free & low cost solutions and hands on retrofit materials which keep it cool, and make things easier, at least for now.
