As part of the ongoing Big Green Festival, tomorrow night, 10th June, 6.15pm at Foakes Hall Great Dunmow, we will be celebrating Uttlesford’s rivers and chalk streams, achievements of sustained community action and the premiere of a new short film, by way of an introduction, click here.
This event focuses on the district’s rivers and internationally rare chalk streams, highlighting sustained community-led action, particularly through groups such as the Newport Rivers Group. The programme includes keynote addresses from Dr Amy-Jane Beer and Charles Rangeley-Wilson OBE.
A chaired panel chaired by Councillor Richard Pavitt explores how Uttlesford District Council has helped build a collaborative network of river-focused organisations and how this model can support future restoration work. The event celebrates grassroots achievement while examining how local action connects to regional and national environmental strategies.
