Grants are generally for £350 per charging point, and potentially for some categories £500 for each enabled parking space.

Workplaces can apply for up to 40 sockets.

Landlords can apply for up to 200 residential properties per year, or 100 commercial properties per year, grants of up to £30k per property. This includes both the charge point and enabled parking spaces.

Grants of up to £1m is available for depots (both public and private sector fleets) where potentially 75% of chargepoint and civil costs can be claimed up to £1m across all sites. This includes both the charge point and enabled parking spaces.

Elibility and Criteria

Eligibility requirements:

  • Own and live in a flat with off street parking, and have an eligible vehicle, or
  • Rent and live in any residential property with off street parking, and have an eligible vehicle,or
  • Rent or own a household with on-street parking, and have an eligible vehicle, or
  • A ‘Workplace’ include businesses, charities, public sector organisations, with eligible vehicles
  • Landlords can apply each year for up to 200 grants for residential properties, and 100 grants for commercial properties.
  • Small/medium businesses can apply for grants of up to £15,000 (made up of £350 per socket and £500 per parking space enabled with infrastructure)
  • Depot Charging Schemes, where potentially 75% of chargepoint and civil costs can be claimed up to £1m across all sites.

 

You cannot claim the grant if:

  • you live in a house that you own (unless it’s converted into flats and you live in just one of the flats)
  • you rent accommodation where the landlord or homeowner lives – for example, if you’re a lodger in someone else’s home
  • you’re moving house or planning on moving
  • you’ve already claimed the grant (or its predecessors, the Electric Vehicle Homecharge Scheme (EVHS) and the Domestic Recharge Scheme)
  • you want to replace a chargepoint, even if the existing one is incompatible with your new car
  • you want to move an existing chargepoint to a new property
  • there must by law be a chargepoint – for example, because your home is a new build

How to Apply

There are four steps to application:

  • Contact an OZEV-authorised installer to get a quote for the work.
    • A list of authorised can be found here: https://www.gov.uk/electric-vehicle-chargepoint-installers
  • Ask the installer to start your claim.
  • You’ll get an email with a link to an eligibility check – complete it online.
  • The installer will apply for the grant on your behalf if you’re eligible.
