Hadstock has a huge potential in Biodiversity with a rare chalk meadow nature reserve with – over 120 wildflower species, 80 acres of woodland including the ancient Hadstock Wood. Over 15 miles of natural hedges – vital as wildlife habitats and corridors. One hundred acres of gardens and one thousand acres of farmland! Our plan is to identify where we can make practical improvements in the biodiversity & nature across the Parish – including our gardens.
Project Status Information
We have producing habitat maps of our current habitats (grassland, woods, hedges, ponds, gardens) across the Parish. This was completed by August 25. We have started surveying our wildflowers, birds and butterflies. This has been delivered by volunteers from across the Village, the Uttlesford Volunteer Group of the Essex Wildlife Trust and support from Saffron Walden Wildflower Group. Many of the results are on our website.
