Description

The Climate Action Fund is our commitment to help communities tackle climate change. We’re supporting communities to be environmentally sustainable. With Climate Action Fund – Our Shared Future we want to involve more people in climate action. And we want to inspire bold and long-lasting change that will have an impact.

The minimum you can ask for is £500,000. We expect the majority of projects to be between £1 and £1.5 million over a minimum of 3 to 5 years. We’ll also consider larger or longer-term projects. If you want to apply for more funding over a longer period you should give us more details in your application form.

We have extended applications for this funding until 17 December 2025. There is high demand for this funding, so we will only progress the strongest applications to the next stage. We want to see more projects that:

  • are clear about the lasting impact they want to make
  • could be scaled up or replicated elsewhere
  • are delivered by diverse partnerships
  • will bring in new voices from different communities, especially – those experiencing poverty, discrimination and disadvantage
  • look beyond climate or the environment to other interests as a way to engage people to take action
  • have strong communications and engagement plans to share the story of their work.

We’re also interested in more applications from projects working either at a regional, national, or UK-wide level and those delivering longer-term projects.

We are looking to support a mix of different communities, themes and approaches across the UK and will consider this as part of our assessment.

We’ll only fund projects developed in a formal partnership with other organisations. This funding is not for applications from single organisations.

We want to hear from more partnerships that are led by or include non-climate or environment focused organisations. They should be aiming to reach people who are new to climate action.

We’re interested in more applications from projects working either at a regional, national, or UK-wide level and those delivering longer-term projects.

We’re looking for partnership projects that reach more people by either:
– influencing communities at a regional, national or UK level. Like linking larger campaigns or projects that will inspire people to take action on climate issues. Or helping communities to influence the people that make policies that affect them.
– linking climate action to the everyday lives and interests of local communities. Using people’s day-to-day activities to inspire them to do things differently and work towards lasting impact.
